Zoe Saldana returns for her second outing as Gamora, Thanos’ favorite daughter in Marvel’s upcoming sequel Guardians of the Galaxy Vol.2 this Friday but the actress is already working on her third appearance in the role in next year’s Avengers: Infinity War.

Saldana recently talked about how she was overwhelmed by the scope and the scale of the production but in a new interview with Collider while promoting the upcoming Guardians sequel, the actress opened up about her experience working with The Russo Brothers who have the challenge of directing Avengers: infinity War, the film that is the culmination of the entire MCU thus far:

“They’re fantastic… they do a fantastic job. They’re not shying away from the drama that an undertaking such as bringing all the characters in the Marvel universe together is going to be for them. And they’re understanding the dramatic beats and they’re showcasing it. And obviously, it’s going to have a lot of action and everything but also as Guardians we’re providing that levity and I think it’s going to make the movies more interesting.”

After confirming she and Dave Bautista were both there one day one of filming, Saldana dished on what it was like to step onto the production as she expressed her excitement and reassured that the Guardians will remain themselves under new direction from the Russo Brothers.

“We’re kind of in shock because it’s too big. In theory, your mind going in you’re like ‘this is too big, I hope I’m not overstimulated and overwhelmed by its immensity’ because it’s very big. But to know what they’re doing and the direction that they’re taking, I felt super excited very early on and I love the fact that the Guardians — we’re keeping authentic voices and that’s going to be really what makes going to make our introduction, our participation special. And I love what they’re doing with the rest of the Avengers and their characters and their storylines. It’s going to be quite dramatic and amazing.”

The Avengers film stars Robert Downey Jr., Chris Evans ,Chris Hemsworth, Mark Ruffalo, Scarlett Johansson, Jeremy Renner, Chris Pratt, Paul Bettany, and Elizabeth Olsen as well as Zoe Saldana, Dave Bautisa, Bradley Cooper, and Vin Diesel as well as Pom Klementieff, Michael Rooker, Karen Gillan, Benedict Cumberbatch, Tom Holland, Sebastian Stan, Chadwick Boseman, Samuel L. Jackson, Tom Hiddleston, Benicio Del Toro and Josh Brolin.

Production Avengers: Infinity War is expected to wrap sometime in June or July with the film slated to hit theaters May 4, 2018. Stay tuned for the latest news regarding the Marvel Cinematic Universe!
