Could Aaron Pierre have saved Blade? The actor breaks his silence on being cut from the long-awaited MCU reboot of the beloved Daywalker.
The Blade reboot has been in development limbo for the better part of a decade. This has meant, understandably, that a number of people attached to the project have been cycled out over the years. This includes directors, writers, and other below the line staff. However, perhaps the most public facing and shocking cuts was Aaron Pierre being slashed from the MCU film’s cast.
Aaron Pierre has been mostly silent about losing out on the role, if only because he’s made the jump from the MCU to the DC Universe with Lanterns. However, in a recent chat with Men’s Health, the actor broke his silence on being cut from the Blade reboot. The actor seemed relatively content with missing out on the project, admitting that he accepts it went in a new direction.
“I remember being cast in Blade and feeling elated. But something I learned during that time was that until you step foot on the set, you haven’t commenced work. It just took a different creative direction, and I was no longer a part of it. You have to accept that.”
Who Was Aaron Pierre Going To Play In Blade?
It was never officially confirmed who Aaron Pierre would have played in the Blade reboot. However, there have been quite a few theories about what role he may have landed in the MCU prior to being cut. The rumor mill suggests that he was going to play the film’s villain- a powerful vampire that was ultimately cut in favor of casting Mia Goth as Lilith.
As for what vampire Aaron Pierre could have played in Blade, it’s likely that he would have been the MCU’s version of Deacon Frost; one of the most common members of the hero’s rogues gallery. It’s also possible that his cut role was related to Lucas Cross: Blade’s long-lost father who is also a vampire himself.
Blade is no longer on the production schedule for the MCU. Stay tuned for the latest news regarding the future of the Marvel Cinematic Universe and make sure to subscribe to our YouTube channel for more content!
