Adam Driver’s New Kylo Ren Mask For ‘Star Wars: Episode IX’ Revealed

Star Wars Kylo Ren Rise of Skywalker Knights of Ren

No longer just a “child in a mask,” Adam Driver’s Kylo Ren returns in Star Wars: Episode IX with his mask repaired.

Star Wars Celebration is in full swing at the moment and continues to drop Star Wars goodies on us as the weekend goes on. After yesterday’s trailer debut of Star Wars: Episode IX, now named Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, we saw our first glimpse Adam Driver as Kylo Ren since seeing him last in a showdown with Luke Skywalker’s Force projection in the finale of Star Wars: The Last Jedi. In the trailer, we see Kylo Ren repairing his previously destroyed mask.

In the beginning of the largely divisive Star Wars: The Last Jedi, Adam Driver’s Kylo Ren smashed his iconic mask to bits after an encounter with Supreme Leader Snoke. Repairing the mask could be a big part of Kylo Ren’s character arc in the film, or perhaps just to sell more toys with a slightly new design. Either way, the red marks where the mask was soldered together is very visually striking look to reflect the psyche of Adam Driver’s complex character. You can get get a better look at the mask thanks to product packaging for Episode IX.

Star Wars The Rise of Skywalker Kylo Ren Helmet Adam Driver

With plenty of speculation on which Skywalker will rise in Star Wars: Episode IX, plenty of fan theories suggest that it will be Adam Driver’s Kylo Ren who will redeem himself as Ben Solo and find his way back to the light side by the end of the film. The cracks in his mask even suggest that it’s becoming increasingly difficult for Kylo Ren to hold himself together as the leader of the First Order.
