Kathleen Kennedy Is “Looking At The Next 10 Years” For Star Wars

Star Wars Kathleen Kennedy

It seems that Lucasfilm and Disney have a few long term plans of Star Wars as Kathleen Kennedy says that they are looking at the series in the long term.

During the Chicago Star Wars Celebration, Lucasfilm President Kathleen Kennedy spoke about the future of the franchise. In it, she called the upcoming film, Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker as the culmination of the Skywalker Saga but not the end of Star Wars by any means. She went on to say that her plans for the franchise stretched over the course of the next ten years and would not be limited to a single trilogy.

She then when on to say that she would soon be talking to Dan Weiss, David Benioff, and Rian Johnson to lock down the plans for the future of Star Wars:

We knew we were going to close this up, we knew that even before we started The Force Awakens. We are looking at the next saga. We are not just looking at another trilogy, we’re really looking at the next 10 years or more. This [movie] is the culmination of the Skywalker Saga; it’s by no means the culmination of Star Wars. I’m sitting down now with Dan Weiss and David Benioff…and Rian Johnson. We’re all sitting down to talk about, where do we go next? We’ve all had conversations about what the possibilities might be, but now we’re locking it down.

From the look of things, we may not be getting another Star Wars film after The Rise of Skywalker anytime soon but Kathleen Kennedy has some definitive plans for the franchise in the future.
