Kathryn Hahn truly was Agatha All Along! Marvel has released the first image of its upcoming Disney Plus series focused on Westview’s Wickedest Witch!
Despite coming out later this year, Marvel has kept a tight lid on Agatha All Along, with only a single featurette about the series finding its way online from a WandaVision DVD. With Fall fast approaching, the studio is now rolling out the red carpet for Kathryn Hahn’s very own Disney Plus series, unveiling the first official image from the project.
Kathryn Hahn returns as the titular witch Agatha Harkness in this newest image. She’s joined in Agatha All Along by WandaVision alum Debra Jo Rupp as Sharon. The photo also features new faces for the Disney Plus series, including Patti LuPone as Lilia, Sasheer Zamata as Jennifer, and Ali Ahn as Alice. While little is known about these three, they’re all expected to be witches.
Agatha All Along Switches With Witches
Many fans expect Agatha All Along to be a generic witch show for Disney Plus. However, it seems Kathryn Hahn and showrunner Jac Schaeffer will be bringing back the subversions that made WandaVision so special. Specifically, messing with what fans think they know about witches.
“[Where] WandaVision played with the form of classic TV sitcoms, [here] we do a lot of playing with what the assumptions about witches are,” Schaeffer told Empire. “Like, what are the shorthand visuals for witches?…We certainly didn’t want a one-dimensional nasty witch. We will have moments where we see Agatha’s true heart.”
It’s good to hear that Jac Schaeffer is putting just as much effort into Agatha All Along as she did with WandaVision. With the Disney Plus series already being lambasted online, Kathryn Hahn and the rest of the cast have a lot to prove when it comes to bringing witches to the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
