Could Agatha All Along have brought a fan-favorite character back to the MCU? Showrunner Jac Schaeffer speaks on scrapped plans for a breakout She-Hulk: Attorney At Law star to appear in the series.
Agatha All Along turned out to be a surprise hit with MCU fans, bringing back beloved characters while introducing audience to a brand new cast of colorful characters. However, it seems the coven was originally one member larger. According to showrunner Jac Schaeffer, early plans included She-Hulk‘s Madisynn as one of the series’ main witches on the road.
For those who don’t recall, Madisynn is a minor character from She-Hulk: Attorney At Law that testified against magician Donny Blaze after he accidentally sent her to hell. The MCU fandom quickly fell in love with the Beverly Hill party girl due to her bubbly personality and friendship with Wong, who she endearingly called Wongers. Madisynn also made a deal with the demon Jake to escape Hell, providing a potential source of magical powers for her to tap into if she did end up appearing in Agatha All Along.
Why Madisynn Was Cut From Agatha All Along
It certainly would’ve been a treat to dedicated fans of the MCU to see Madisynn make the jump to Agatha All Along after her debut in She-Hulk: Attorney At Law. Though obviously, given the series has now reached its end, the cameo didn’t quite pan out. When Jac Schaeffer discussed Madisynn’s potential appearance in the project, the showrunner also revealed the plans were scrapped due to it feeling unnatural.
“[We wanted] to get Madisynn on the Witches’ Road,” Schaeffer explained in a recent talk with The Ringer-Verse. “But it just didn’t work. It was shoehorning.”
Given the character’s tenuous connection at best to the world of magic and mysticism, it makes sense that it would be a leap to try to justify her in the series. It’s also likely that Madisynn’s appearance in Agatha All Along would’ve been confusing for fans who don’t watch every MCU project, potentially skipping out on the critically mixed She-Hulk: Attorney At Law. Though with Agatha now in need of a new coven, there’s no time like the present to make this idea come to life!
