Agatha: Coven of Chaos is a Wandavision spin-off that’s set to return fans to the small town of Westview to learn more about Agatha Harkness. However, some loose lips from one of the show’s stars tease that the show may be more musical than many would first suspect.
Marvel is infamously secretive with its projects. Agatha: Coven of Chaos is currently shooting, but fans don’t know the first thing about the show aside from a few casting announcements. That is, of course, until LuPone started speaking about it in recent interviews. During an interview with The View, Patti LuPone let out details about exactly what types of witches her and co-stars Aubrey Plaza and Joe Locke would be playing. Now, LuPone is spilling even more beans about the coven, expanding on the divine powers of her witchcraft and her singing:
“We are a coven led by the great Kathryn Hahn. I am a 450-year-old Sicilian witch and my power is divination,” she told the The Hollywood Reporter before expanding on if the show would feature any songs. “They do. Our lead singer is Kathryn. I’m singing backup, and the songs have been written by Kristen and Bobby Lopez. I said, ‘Listen, I don’t harmonize. I’ve always been a soprano. I’ve always been on the top line.’ But it’s just been great fun. There’s no CGI either. What I am seeing on this show is craft.”
This news comes as a delight to Patti LuPone’s fans from her time on Broadway. It’s also no shock that this Marvel show in particular would be the one to feature musical elements. The song Agatha All Along blew up following its debut on Wandavision, especially on platforms like TikTok. It’s a no-brainer that Marvel would want to cash-in on such widespread popularity with a continuation series. Only time will tell if this tactic will be another smash hit or if the notes will fall flat.
Who else is attached to Agatha: Coven of Chaos?
Agatha: Coven of Chaos is a spin-off series of WandaVision and revolves around Kathryn Hahn’s character, Agatha Harkness. The show is being developed by Jac Schaefer, who served as head writer and executive producer of WandaVision. Schaefer was also one of the writers behind the hit Marvel films Captain Marvel and Black Widow.
In addition to Patti LuPone, Kathryn Hahn and Joe Locke, Agatha: Coven of Chaos also stars Aubrey Plaza, Ali Ahn, Maria Dizzia, Sasheer Zamata, Debra Jo Rupp, Emma Caulfield, David Payton, David Lengel, Asif Ali, Amos Glick, Brian Brightman, Kate Forbes, David Payton, David Lengel, Asif Ali, Amos Glick, Brian Brightman and Kate Forbes. Jac Schaeffer, Gandja Monteiro and Rachel Goldberg are directing the series.
In addition to Agatha: Coven of Chaos, another spin-off series focusing on The Vision is also currently in the works at Marvel Studios. With multiple spin-offs in development, WandaVision fans have a lot to look forward to in the coming years.
