Alan Ritchson Speaks On Potential Return As Aquaman While Teasing A DC Universe Role

Is the one true Aquaman back?

Is Alan Ritchson playing the DC Universe’s Aquaman? The Smallville star speaks on whether there’s any chance for him to return to the iconic role.

There’s perhaps no actor who has been brought up more when it comes to casting the new DC Universe than Alan Ritchson. While the most famous fancast is for him to take on the role of the Dark Knight himself, the hero that trails not far behind is actually Aquaman. This is despite the fact that Ritchson already played the Defender of the Deep on Smallville, meaning that taking up the trident would actually be a return to form for the actor

Alan Ritchson has recently been speaking a lot about the prospect of making a return to the DC Universe. While the actor seemed to brush off the idea that he would be playing Batman in the upcoming reboot, he did tease that there may be another role in store for him. Sadly, it seems that role may not end up being Aquaman.

“No, I would never take that from [Jason Momoa],” Ritchson told entertainment reporter Liam Saul during a recent appearance at the Toronto International Film Festival “I have too much respect. I would definitely want to explore new horizons, and I have a feeling we may. We’ll see.”

Who Is Alan Ritchson Playing In The DC Universe?

If Alan Ritchson isn’t playing Batman or Aquaman, there are still plenty of options for what role he may play in the DC Universe (assuming he doesn’t use the opportunity to make a return as Hawk from Titans). While some fans are hoping to see the actor take on a more villainous role, it’s more likely than not that he’ll play a hero.

Perhaps the most popular fancast for Alan Ritchson, following Aquaman and Batman, is actually another character that needs to be recast for the new DC Universe: Shazam. He certainly has the body of six gods, and his roles in projects like Blue Mountain State and Lazerteam prove that the actor has the comedic chops to play the role of an overgrown kid.

There are currently no Aquaman projects in development for the DC Universe. Stay tuned for the latest news regarding the future of the DC Universe and make sure to subscribe to our YouTube channel for more content!
