It has become a viral phenomenon to dream about what actors could join the burgeoning franchise and which role they could play. Perhaps no actor is a bigger face for this than Reacher star Alan Ritchson.
Alan Ritchson has, famously, been one of the most requested names to play Batman in the new DC Universe. However, one can’t shake a stick on fancast forums without smacking a new role for the actor to take on. Aquaman, Wildcat, Shazam, Mongul, Captain Atom, Orion – there have even been those suggesting he take on the role of Rick Flag Jr. from Joel Kinnaman.

The dream of Alan Ritchson joining the DC Universe was just that- a dream. That is, until now. The actor recently spoke to Screen Rant, where the idea of him joining the franchise was inevitably brought up. Ritchson revealed that he has actually been in talks with the studio heads to take on a role, albeit it’s one that fans of him may not be expecting.
“Yeah. Yes. That’s the conversation that I’ve been having with them is like, ‘I want to play somebody a little messier.’ And I told them, I said, if I’m going to do this, I described to them the kind of personality that I’d want to play and what that would mean to their world, and I think it’s something everybody wants to see right now over there. So yes, I want to play somebody a little dirtier than your typical clean-cut protagonist.”
Alan Ritchson has long been defined as playing meatheads with various levels of charisma (though praise should be given to his performance in The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare). With a platform as big as the DC Universe, the actor would have a chance to redefine his image for the general audience. So it’ll be interesting to see, if he does land a role, what it could ultimately be.
