Alicia Silverstone Would Like To Redo ‘Batman & Robin’ Batgirl Role

Alicia Silverstone Batman And Robin Batgirl

Batman and Robin actress Alicia Silverstone would like to redo her role as Batgirl for the 1997 film.

Batman and Robin is a film that has lived in comic book movie infamy for over twenty years. The film was a critical and box office dud that nearly killed all studio faith in comic book film adaptations and set back the careers of just about everyone involved. This included actress Alicia Silverstone who played Batgirl in the film. However, if given a chance, she would like to redo her role as Batgirl.

In the film, Alicia Silverstone played Barbara Wilson, the niece of Batman’s butler, Alfred Pennyworth. This marked a rather radical departure from the character’s comic book origins, as Batgirl is traditionally the daughter of Gotham police commissioner, James Gordon. In Batman and Robin, she uncovers Bruce Wayne’s secret towards the film’s end and helps the two battle Mr. Freeze, Poison Ivy, and Bane.

While speaking to Collider, Alicia Silverstone talked a bit about her role as Batgirl in Batman and Robin. While she didn’t say she was willing to reprise the role, she did say that she would like to redo her fight scenes with Uma Thurman’s Poison Ivy, citing how much better they would be now that she’s a bit older:

“I’m trying to think what else I’d be proud of. I mean, I like it when I get to do the fighting scenes with Uma Thurman. That’s fun. But I’d like to do it all over again as this woman! [Laughs] I think it would be much better now.”

What did you all think of Alicia Silverstone’s role as Batgirl? Should she have been given the chance to play the role in additional films? What did you think of Batman and Robin? Let us know in the comments below!
