New ‘Alien: Covenant’ Footage Shown At CinemaCon 2017

20th Century Fox unveiled new footage from Ridley Scott's Alien: Covenant during their CinemaCon 2017 presentation and we have a description.

Alien CovenantOn the final day of CinemaCon 2017, 20th Century Fox presented the audience with never-before-seen footage and a brand new trailer for Alien: Covenant, with a pre-recorded message from director Ridley Scott.

We don’t know when or if the footage the studio will release the footage online, but The Wrap has a brief description of the trailer. You can check it out below.

The new trailer showed a darkness take down an entire civilization while Michael Fassbender’s character David (who plays both David and Walter, so it could easily be Walter as well — they look very similar) watches from an epic-looking space ship. Throughout the rest of the footage, it becomes clear he won’t let humans start over on a new planet after leaving earth.

“The gods have rejected mankind as cruel, weak and full of greed,” Fassbender says in the trailer. “They are a dying species, grasping for resurrection. So they are leaving the earth forever.”

He continues, “But their power is an illusion. They don’t deserve to start again, and I’m not going to let them.”

The trailer is full of gore as different species (and yes — xenomorphs show up too) take down humans viciously.

In Alien: Covenant, Michael Fassbender returns as the synthetic David, with a dual role as a newer model named Walter. Noomi Rapace is also back as Prometheus protagonist Elizabeth Shaw.

Newcomers include Katherine Waterston, Billy Crudup, Danny McBride, Demián Bichir, Carmen Ejogo, Amy Seimetz, Jussie Smollett, Callie Hernandez, Nathaniel Dean, Alexander England, Benjamin Rigby and James Franco.

Alien: Covenant opens on May 19, 2017.
