FX has revealed new details on Noah Hawley’s upcoming Alien series including the time period and confirmed that previous characters would not be involved.

The road to Noah Hawley’s FX Alien series has been a long one and it is not over by a long shot. After the Disney acquisition of Fox, the company revealed that it planned on continuing the franchise in some way. This eventually took form with Noah Hawley’s FX series.

Since the announcement came, more details have been revealed about the upcoming Alien series. The FX series will not involve Sigourney Weaver’s Ellen Ripley but will involve multiple mega-companies battling for dominance and is currently eyeing a 2023 release date. Now FX has revealed a few more details about the Noah Hawley series.

At FX’s TCA, FX executive John Landgraf revealed a few details about the Alien series. He confirmed that none of the characters from previous installments would be involved and that it would take place roughly 70 years from the present day:

“There are some big surprises in store for the audience,” Landgraf shared at the network’s TCA appearance. “Alien takes place before Ripley. It’s the first story that takes place in the Alien franchise on Earth. So, it takes place on our planet. Right near the end of this century we’re in — so 70-odd years from now.”

Ripley won’t be a part of it or any of the other characters of Alien other than the alien itself.”

Here is the plot synopsis for the latest film in the franchise, Alien: Covenant:

Ridley Scott returns to the universe he created, with ALIEN: COVENANT, a new chapter in his groundbreaking ALIEN franchise. The crew of the colony ship Covenant, bound for a remote planet on the far side of the galaxy, discovers what they think is an uncharted paradise, but is actually a dark, dangerous world. When they uncover a threat beyond their imagination, they must attempt a harrowing escape.

Directed by Ridley Scott from a script written by John Logan and Dante Harper, the film stars Michael Fassbender, Katherine Waterston, Billy Crudup, Danny McBride, Demián Bichir, Carmen Ejogo, Amy Seimetz, Jussie Smollett, Callie Hernandez, Nathaniel Dean, Alexander England, and Benjamin Rigby.

FX’s Alien series will be released sometime in 2023. Stay tuned for all the latest news surrounding the upcoming series and be sure to subscribe to Heroic Hollywood’s YouTube channel for more original video content.
