Aquaman star Amber Heard claims Johnny Depp hurled bottles at her like grenades during a violent episode in 2015.
As she continues to give evidence to the court in London, Aquaman star Amber Heard alleges that her ex-husband Johnny Depp used glass bottles like grenades during a violent episode she claims happened in 2015. The star has previously accused Depp of repeatedly assaulting her over the course of their stay in Australia. The new details about the couple’s marriage has come out as part of Depp’s libel case against The Sun for publishing a story by journalist Dan Wootton which called the star a “wife-beater” when discussing the latest Fantastic Beasts film. Heard claims her ex-husband hurled multiple bottles one by one at her before she retreated into the bar.
“He started picking [bottles] up one by one and throwing them like grenades. One after the other after the other, in my direction, and I felt glass breaking behind me, I retreated more into the bar and he didn’t stop. I was too scared to look behind me. He threw all the bottles that were in reach.”
Amber Heard was asked by Johnny Depp’s lawyer, Eleanor Laws QC, whether she threw bottles back at the Fantastic Beasts star, cutting off the tip of his finger. Heard strenuously denied the claims, saying that she thinks he accidentally did it himself. She also said that Depp continued to throw bottles at her even after the injury to his finger. Regardless of who’s telling the truth about the incident in Australia, the accounts from both sides paint the relationship as an incredibly toxic one.
Laws: “According to you, Mr Depp sliced his finger off all on his own … and then carried on attacking you.”
Heard: “Yes, he did. I don’t think he meant to sever the finger but yes he did continue the attack.”
