America Chavez’s moms are reported to appear in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness and the actresses playing them have now been named.

Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness will welcome Xochitl Gomez to the MCU as America Chavez, a young girl with the power to open star-shaped portals through the multiverse. In the comics, America had two moms, Amalia and Elena, whose deaths were a formative moment in America’s young life. One Take News has now not only confirmed that America’s moms will appear in Multiverse of Madness, but also the actresses who will be playing them.

Ruth Livier plays Elena Chavez and Chess Lopez plays Amalia Chavez in the Doctor Strange sequel. The actresses are relatively unknown. Livier briefly appeared on 90210 and has otherwise done a lot of voice acting. Lopez has appeared in three short films and is currently making a TV movie. It is unknown how much screen time the pair have, though it seems likely their role in the film will be relatively small.

It was previously confirmed that censors in Saudi Arabia had asked Disney to cut 12 seconds of the film, in which America’s two moms are referenced. However, it had not been previously revealed that America’s parents actually appeared in Multiverse of Madness. Disney refused to make the edits Saudi Arabian censors requested.
