Ana de Armas On If She’d Play Wonder Woman In The New DC Universe

Someone get the Lasso of Truth!

Ana De Armas Ballerina No Time To Die Gal Gadot Wonder Woman

In recent months, talks across the net have floated the idea of Ana de Armas playing Wonder Woman in James Gunn and Peter Safran’s DC Universe. De Armas has finally addressed these ideas, though perhaps not in a way fans would want.

Two things have been on the forefront of fans’ minds since the announcement that Patty Jenkins’ third Wonder Woman film was being scrapped at Warner Bros. Discovery: If Gal Gadot would remain in the role and, if not, who would replace her? Ana De Armas has been at the top of many people’s lists to take up the role for the DCU. De Armas has quickly proven herself a tour de force in the action genre, from her roles in the James Bond film No Time To Die to the upcoming John Wick spin-off Ballerina. While many people believe this resume would make her the perfect fit for the character, the actress herself isn’t sure she would want to bring Diana Prince to life.

“Well, I feel like Gal Gadot is doing a great job,” the actress said during a WIRED Autocomplete Interview. “So you know, I think she should keep doing that.”

While some fans may be disappointed Ana de Armas isn’t interested in picking up the lasso anytime soon, it’s still unclear if Gal Gadot will even be recast in the new DC Universe. James Gunn has confirmed that Wonder Woman is a part of the early years of the new universe, but isn’t sure if Gadot herself will return to the role. With The Flash set to reset the DCU status-quo this upcoming June, fans may get an answer sooner than they think.

Lionsgate continues expanding the John Wick franchise

Lionsgate has been tight-lipped about the details of the John Wick spin-off, but rumors and speculation have been running wild on social media. Ballerina will explore the backstory of one of the franchise’s most intriguing characters yet — a ballerina who is also an assassin. Ana de Armas, known for her roles in Knives Out and Blade Runner 2049, will take on the lead role. The film will hit theaters on June 7, 2024.

In addition to Ballerina, Lionsgate is also working on The Continental, a spin-off series that explores the origins of Ian McShane’s Winston Scott. Colin Woodell is playing Winston, with a supporting cast that includes Ayomide Adegun, Peter Greene, Mel Gibson, Ben Robson, Hubert Point-Du Jour, Jessica Allain, Mishel Prada and Nhung Kate. The series is set to premiere on Peacock in 2023.
