The Batman has a brand new production designer! The mind behind Andor has joined the long-awaited sequel to DC’s 2022 hit.
With the sequel to The Batman set to film early next year, calls are already starting to be put out to assemble the project’s cast and crew. A number of familiar faces are already locked to return, such as Colin Farrell as Oz Cobb and Jeffrey Wright as Jim Gordon.
However, it’s what’s going on behind the camera that has fans concerned. Cinematographer Greg Fraiser has confirmed he’s skipping out on The Batman sequel, as he’s already locked to film Sam Mendes’ The Beatles quadrilogy with Sony Pictures. This has left many to wonder who else from the first film’s crew may miss the boat- and who might replace them.
The Production Designer Of The Batman Sequel
Fans now know one name when it comes to new faces joining the sequel. The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed that Luke Hull will be joining The Batman universe as production designer. Hull takes over from James Chinlund, who worked on the first film. While it’s not clear why Chinlund didn’t return for the sequel, he is serving as production designer on Greta Gerwig’s Narnia reboot, which is also set to film next year.
While most people don’t know Luke Hull, they likely know his work. He’s served as production designer on projects like Andor and Close, winning an Emmy back in 2019 for his work on the Chernobyl series for HBO. And given the dreary nature of those projects, it’s likely Gotham won’t be the brightest place in The Batman sequel.
The Batman sequel is currently set to hit theaters on October 1, 2027. Stay tuned for the latest news regarding Matt Reeves’ The Batman universe, and make sure to stay tuned to our YouTube channel for more content.
