Is Andor a return to form for Star Wars? A trailer for season 2 of the highly-regarded Disney Plus series teases that the stakes are higher than ever.
The world has changed ever since Andor left. Not just in regards to the time jumps that are set to be so pervasive throughout the events of season 2, but also with the landscape of Star Wars on Disney Plus. There was a time where the franchise was regarded as the golden child of prestige streaming television content. But after a string of flops and controversial decisions with fans, there seems to be very little hope for the galaxy far, far away on the small screen.
Fans hoped that Andor would be able to reignite the spark in the Star Wars fandom in the same way that it did in season 1. Especially given that it has been nearly three years since the series first aired, expectations are sky high for season 2. So many shows on Disney Plus fail to stick their landing and, while Andor did provide a satisfying conclusion during its freshman outing, the stakes are even bigger as the sophomore outing approaches the events of the original trilogy.
Andor Is Back And Better Than Ever
Luckily, it seems as though Star Wars fans might finally have another hit on their hands. The first trailer for Andor season 2 sees talk of the rebellion finally coming together from across the galaxy to stand against the evil empire. This story comes wrapped in a package of truly beautiful cinematography and a grounded realism not often found in Disney Plus shows in the similar vein.
Andor is set to officially come to an end with season 2, with the Disney Plus series coming full circle with Rogue One: A Star Wars Story by the end of its runtime. Even though fans know the fate that lies in Cassian Andor’s future, the journey has been an unforgettable one for fans and critics alike. Though if the broader Star Wars ecosystem is to learn from these lessons, it’s yet to be seen.
