Warner Bros. debuted a The Batman featurette at CinemaCon last night which showed brand new footage of Andy Serkis’ Alfred and The Caped Crusader taking on Catwoman.

Studios and exhibitors have taken over Las Vegas thanks for this year’s CinemaCon. Warner Bros. held a presentation last night, though no footage from their event made its way online. In their presentation, the studio revealed new footage of Robert Pattinson’s The Batman through a new, albeit brief featurette.

ScreenRant says that the featurette started with Bruce Wayne walking through Gotham as eerie piano music played. Additional footage included Batman beating up goons, as well as shots of explosions and police officers. Andy Serkis’ Alfred Pennyworth was also debuted. Serkis’ Alfred sported white hair and a vest, though not much else was revealed about his look. Other key moments from the featurette included more of Batman’s fight with Zoe Kravitz’s Catwoman, which was briefly shown in the first trailer.

The outlet reports that a decent amount of footage from the DC Fandome trailer was reused for the featurette. Throughout the video, director Matt Reeves chimed in and discussed how The Batman isn’t necessarily an origin story but rather a film that captures the rawness of The Dark Knight’s early days. Reeves also labeled the film as “emotional”, while Pattinson said that Batman’s anger is a key part of the DC project stating that “all the fights seem very personal”.

The featurette ended with Matt Reeves telling attendees that “We can’t wait for you to see The Batman in theatres next year.” It’s unlikely that the featurette will make its way online, though we should expect new footage during this year’s October DC Fandome. Hopefully, fans will get to see their first look at Andy Serkis’ Alfred, as well as an extended look at Batman and Catwoman’s fight!

The plot of The Batman is being kept under lock and key, but we know the film will follow Robert Pattinson as a younger version of Bruce Wayne, chronicling Batman during his second year as the Dark Knight of Gotham City. The film will also show off the hero using his skills as a detective more than what we’ve seen before in previous versions of the hero. It is also expected to be the first installment in a new trilogy of films with Pattinson.

Directed by Matt Reeves, The Batman stars Robert Pattinson as the titular hero, Zoe Kravitz as Catwoman, Paul Dano as the Riddler, Jeffrey Wright as Commissioner James Gordon, John Turturro as Carmine Falcone, Peter Sarsgaard as Gil Colson, Jayme Lawson as Bella Reál, with Andy Serkis as Alfred Pennyworth, and Colin Farrell as the Penguin.

The Batman is currently scheduled to hit theaters on March 4, 2022. Stay tuned for the latest news regarding the upcoming DC film, and make sure to subscribe to our YouTube channel for more video content.
