Andy Serkis has teased his role as Kino Loy in the upcoming second season of Andor, hinting that his character is forced to suffer a lonely fate.
Star Wars veteran Andy Serkis appeared in the first season of Andor as the prisoner Kino Loy. While many people assumed his character didn’t make it out alive during the prison break from Narkina 5 due to his inability to swim, it has since been confirmed that Serkis will return in the show’s second season. When speaking to Empire Magazine about his return, Serkis teased that the prison is a lot emptier after last season’s break-out:
“Let’s just say that Narkina 5 is a very lonely place without other people.”
It’s interesting that Andy Serkis is set to return as Kino Loy while still residing in Narkina 5. One of the first rules of breaking out of prison is to never return to the prison, so it’ll be interesting to see how Andor brings the titular character back to Narkina 5 to interact with Kino Loy. This also implies that, out of nearly 5,000 inmates, Serkis’ character is the only one who didn’t escape. While perhaps taken too literally, it could be incredibly interesting to see what life would be like in a futuristic prison inhabited by only on prisoner.
