Andy Serkis Becomes The Penguin For Matt Reeves & Robert Pattinson’s The Batman In New Image

War for the Planet of the Apes star Andy Serkis becomes The Penguin for Matt Reeves’ The Batman starring Robert Pattinson in this stunning image.

Rumors began to swirl earlier this week that Andy Serkis is in the mix to join the cast of The Batman. Should this be the case, Andy Serkis would star opposite Robert Pattinson, as well as reunite with Planet of the Apes director Matt Reeves on the project. The highly-anticipated superhero film is expected to feature a rogues gallery of villains including Catwoman and The Penguin. While Warner Bros. has yet to announce Andy Serkis — or any other actors besides Robert Pattinson for that matter — that won’t stop fan artists like William Gray from imagining what actors could be cast in the roles of their favorite DC Comics icons, and that includes Andy Serkis as The Penguin.

Here’s what Andy Serkis could look like as The Penguin for Matt Reeves and Robert Pattinson’s The Batman.

Having already appeared in franchises such as The Lord of the RingsStar Wars and the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Andy Serkis seems like a perfect fit to join the DC Extended Universe. But what do you think? Would you like to see Andy Serkis star opposite Robert Pattinson in The Batman? Are you excited for Robert Pattinson to take on the role of the Caped Crusader? Sound-off your thoughts in the comments!

Plot details for Matt Reeves’ The Batman are still under wraps. Previous rumors once pointed to an earlier version of the script featuring Ben Affleck bookending the film as his current Batman while the film introduced a younger version of the Dark Knight. But with Ben Affleck officially retired from the role, Robert Pattinson has officially replaced the Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice and Justice League actor in the role.

While details are slim, Matt Reeves has confirmed that his film featuring Robert Pattinson is not based on Frank Miller’s Year One comic and will emphasize Batman as the world’s greatest detective more than previous films have in the past. Filming is expected to begin early next year.

The Batman is one of the many projects currently being developed by Warner Bros. and DC Films. The list also includes The Flash standalone film, Green Lantern Corps, Black Adam, Cyborg, Supergirl, New GodsNightwing, and DC’s Birds of Prey spin-off Birds of Prey (And The Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn) with Margot Robbie.

The DCEU continues with Birds of Prey (And The Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn) on February 7, 2020, followed by Wonder Woman 1984 on June 5, 2020. A standalone Joker film set outside of the DC Films universe starring Joaquin Phoenix as the Clown Prince of Crime is also set to hit theaters October 4, 2019.
