Ant-Man star Michae Douglas recently opened up about the upcoming third installment to the Marvel Studios trilogy.
After Avengers: Infinity War hit theaters last year and featured some pretty dramatic, heart-wrenching moments for Marvel fans, Ant-Man and the Wasp opened on the big screen shortly after to deliver a much-needed palate cleanser. There have been many rumors regarding a possible Ant-Man 3, since most of the post-Spider-Man: Far From Home Marvel Cinematic Universe films are still being kept under wraps but it seems that Michael Douglas just spilled the beans on the upcoming threequel.
According to Entertainment Tonight, Michael Douglas briefly addressed the third installment to his Marvel franchise during the Television Critics Association set visit to the actor’s award-winning Netflix series The Kominsky Method. According to the report, this is what Michael Douglas had to say regarding the upcoming MCU installment Ant-Man 3.
“There’s been talk [about another Ant-Man]… [but there’s been nothing formal right now that I know of. They always kind of spring it on me. The first time you hear about it, it’s already in its third rewrite.”
In Marvel Studios’ Ant-Man franchise, Michael Douglas plays the iconic comic book character Hank Pym, the original Ant-Man in the comics. In the films, Pym is less of a hero himself and more of a mentor to Paul Rudd’s Scott Lang, who will return in the upcoming film Avengers: Endgame. Hank Pym, alongside his recently-rescued wife Janet van Dyne (Michelle Pfeiffer), and his daughter the Wasp, aka Hope van Dyne (Evangeline Lilly) fell victim to Thanos’ (Josh Brolin) Infinity War snap as seen in the post-credits scene for Ant-Man and the Wasp. The surviving heroes of the MCU will next be seen joining forces in Avengers: Endgame, premiering in theaters this April.
