‘Ant-Man’ Editor Reveals Scrapped Plans By Director Edgar Wright

Would it be Wright?

Edgar Wright worked on getting an Ant-Man movie made at Marvel Studios for eight years before exiting from the project. Almost a decade after the film’s release, fans finally get their first taste of his scrapped vision.

Edgar Wright is a director with a truly eclectic film catalog. From an alien invasion during a pub crawl to a baby driver, the only thing one can say about his work is that it is always quality. This left many fans disappointed when it was announced he would depart Marvel Studios’ Ant-Man project. While details about his version of the film have been kept close to the chest, Ant-Man‘s editor Colby Parker Jr. revealed the first details about a much bigger heist film:

“His film, it was still heist film. But remember how we have three mains. I think there were, like, 15 people within the gang, the gang that was going to do the big heist,” Parke told The Direct. “I remember I never got to see his script. But I remember hearing that once in discussions when all the big muckety mucks were in the room… [The heist] was going to be more of a collaborative effort and more of a 15-hander than a three-hander…”

A 15-person heist certainly seems like a lot of characters to juggle in an Ant-Man film, which also needs to introduce fans to the entire Pym family along with Pym Particles. However, it certainly would have lived up to the standards of Edgar Wright, no matter how long it took to come out. While it’s sad the film never got made, it did free Wright to make Baby Driver. So there’s a silver lining in everything.

What to expect after Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania
