‘Ant-Man’ Director Peyton Reed Teases Walton Goggins’ Marvel Return

Ant-Man director Peyton Reed has teased Walton Goggins return to the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

While they haven’t been the biggest commercial successes for the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Peyton Reed’s two Ant-Man films have won the hearts of the public with their imaginative action sequences and cheeky storytelling. And of course, who can forget the whimsical characters that have spiced up the films like Michael Pena’s Louis and Randall Park’s FBI agent Jimmy Woo? And while those characters are sure to return for the third Ant-Man film, fans have been wondering if Walton Goggins’ wannabe villain Sonny Burch will also be back.

When asked by a fan on Twitter if there’s a chance that Walton Goggins would return to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, director Peyton Reed replied that “there’s always a chance.”

The two Ant-Man films, though directly tied into the Marvel Cinematic Universe, have largely been their own personal stories with much lower stakes when compared to the likes of Thor: Ragnarok or Captain Marvel. The two films have continued to build their mythos and rapport with audience members, so it certainly would be exciting to see Walton Goggins return for the third film to exact revenge on Scott Lang and the rest of his crew. At the end of the second film, Goggins’ Sonny Burch was incapacitated by Scott Lang’s mini team of heroes, with his arc predominantly unresolved. We’re sure that Peyton Reed can find a way to weave Goggins back into the Marvel Cinematic Universe should he be a worthy fit.
