Anthony Mackie has revealed brand new story details for the upcoming The Falcon and the Winter Soldier series.
One of the most anticipated shows coming to Disney Plus is The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, which will continue the story of Anthony Mackie’s Falcon and Sebastian Stan’s Winter Soldier in a post-Avengers: Endgame world. At the end of that film, Anthony Mackie’s Falcon was given the Captain America shield, effectively setting him up as the heir apparent for the mantle. The series will also continue to explore the relationship between both heroes, which has been rocky to say the least.
Essentially frenemies, both characters have a long way to go before they become best friends. Speaking to Rotten Tomatoes TV, Anthony Mackie revealed that the series will continue to explore the relationship between both chararacters.
“We really get to develop that relationship between the two of us, and you get to see it unfold. Because we were never really friends, and we still aren’t really friends [laughs].”
Anthony Mackie also discussed how the Disney Plus shows will be vastly different from the regular theatrical Marvel Studios fare because the series will be longer.
“These Disney+ shows are going to be very different than the movies. You get the experience of being able to live with these characters for six and eight hours, instead of a two-hour movie where they have a small input on the overall universe.”
With Disney Plus, we’ll be able to spend far more time with some of our characters from the Marvel Cinematic Universe. One of the advantages of these shows that focus on predominantly side-characters is that we get to see the exact effects they can have on the franchise. The Falcon and The Winter Soldier may have just been blips within the larger MCU on the big screen but with their own series, they’ll be able to shine in ways fans couldn’t have even imagined.
