The legal team hired by Aquaman star Amber Heard have all quit the lawsuit against Johnny Depp.

Johnny Depp’s tumultuous defamation case against his ex-wife Amber Heard has hit yet another roadblock as the legal team representing the Aquaman star have all quit. Previously, Heard was being represented by a team led by Roberta Kaplan and included John Quinn, Julie Fink and Davida Brook. But they’ve all quit, with The Blast reporting that the Aquaman star is switching to local counsel in Virginia after Kaplan Hecker and Fink LL said “travel and logistics” are “more costly in light of the pandemic.”

This isn’t the first time the legal conflict between Johnny Depp and Amber Heard has made the headlines, with a report earlier this year suggesting the Aquaman star could face prison-time if she is found guilty of falsifying evidence against her ex-husband. CinemaBlend pointed out that it’s not uncommon for those involved in a case to look for counsel with a team knowledgeable about the penal code in specific state. Johnny Depp’s attorney Adam Waldman told the outlet they intend to find out if there’s another reason behind the legal team’s exit.

“Ms. Heard’s lawyers, one of whom co-founded the #TimesUp Legal Defense Fund, have now apparently unhitched from Ms Heard’s long-disproven frauds. We intend to discover why.”

Johnny Depp is set to reprise his role as the villainous Gellert Grindelwald in the third Fantastic Beasts movie. Meanwhile, Amber Heard is expected to return as Mera in the yet-to-be titled Aquaman sequel. For now, fans can see Heard as Mera in Aquaman. Here’s the official synopsis for the movie:

From Warner Bros. Pictures and director James Wan comes an acition-packed adventure that spans the vast, visually breathtaking underwater world of the seven seas, “Aquaman,” starring Jason Momoa in the title role. The film reveals the origin story of half-human, half-Atlantean Arthur Curry and takes him on the journey of his lifetime—one that will not only force him to face who he really is, but to discover if he is worthy of who he was born to be… a king.

Directed by James Wan, Aquaman stars Jason Momoa as Arthur Curry, Amber Heard as Mera, Willem Dafoe as Vulko, Patrick Wilson as Orm / Ocean Master, Dolph Lundgren as Nereus, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II as Black Manta, Nicole Kidman as Atlanna, Ludi Lin as Captain Murk, and Temuera Morrison as Tom Curry.

Aquaman is available on Digital HD, 4K UHD Combo Pack, Blu-ray Combo Pack, and DVD. Stay tuned for more updates regarding Aquaman, Amber Heard and Johnny Depp as we learn them.
