Aquaman pays homage to a Rebirth-era comic during a very integral story point.

The highly-anticipated DC solo adventure Aquaman finally hit U.S. theaters this weekend and it’s filled to the brim with homages to the original comics. The film doesn’t just reference one specific era of Aquaman books, instead, it references and pays tribute to as many as it can, including the most recent Rebirth continuity.

In 2016, DC did a sort-of reboot of their comics referred to as Rebirth, very similar to the 2011 New 52 line of comics. A Reddit post from user SnubHawk revealed that a very important moment from the Aquaman film pays homage to issue #30 of Rebirth-era Aquaman. Check out the awesome homage in the post below.

Discussion: I thought that this moment in the movie was a reference to a cover (SPOILER) from DC_Cinematic

Rebrith: Aquaman Issue #30 was written by Dan Abnett and features art from Stjepan Sejic. The issue was the finale to the Underworld storyline and as fans can see on the cover, it even has a little promo for 2017’s Justice League, which featured the debut of Jason Momoa’s Aquaman outside of his brief cameo in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice.

We’ll be sure to keep you updated on all news regarding Aquaman as soon as more information becomes available. What were some of your favorite homages from the movie? Which era of Aquaman comics is your favorite? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below!
