Major ‘Justice League’ Easter Egg Spotted In ‘Aquaman’

One brief moment in Aquaman features an interesting Justice League Easter egg. Stop reading now if you want to avoid very minor spoilers for Aquaman.

In 2017’s Justice League, the main thrust of the plot came from the race to obtain Mother Boxes, devices familiar to fans of the DC pantheon. The story in Justice League established that three Mother Boxes had been hidden on Earth, one with the humans, one with the Amazonians, and one with the Atlantians.

Aquaman opened in theaters this weekend and an eagle-eyed fan took to Reddit to reveal a Mother Box cameo in the film. It doesn’t appear to be the Atlantean Mother Box featured in Justice League but it certainly has a very similar design. Check out the post below to see the appearance by the  Mother Box hidden next to an image of Arthur Curry (Jason Momoa) and his parents.

The Mother Box appears to be a small object designed by Atlanna (Nicole Kidman) during the opening moments of the film. When Aquaman opens, viewers are immediately introduced to the relationship between Atlanna and Tom Curry (Temuera Morrison) before seeing Aquaman in action. The film doesn’t appear to have very many references to Justice League but given that the film has only been in U.S. theaters for a handful of days, it’s possible that more Easter eggs will be discovered over the course of its theatrical run.
