Aquaman Julie Andrews Mary Poppins

Entertainment Weekly has learned that original Mary Poppins star Julie Andrews has a secret role in Warner Bros. and DC’s Aquaman.

Academy Award winner Julie Andrews will provide the voice for a mythical undersea creature named Karathen who reportedly holds the key to Aquaman’s quest to unite the Atlantean and surface worlds. Producer Peter Safran discussed how the casting of Andrews came about and why the revered actress is perfect for the role:

“We wanted the Karathen to have the voice of a classic British actress, albeit somewhat digitally altered. And when we found out Julie was interested and available and excited to do it, casting her was a no-brainer.”

On the fact that Aquaman will go up against the upcoming Mary Poppins sequel at the box office, Safran said, “Who knew that Aquaman would have the real Mary Poppins this Christmas?”

From Warner Bros. Pictures and director James Wan comes an acition-packed adventure that spans the vast, visually breathtaking underwater world of the seven seas, “Aquaman,” starring Jason Momoa in the title role. The film reveals the origin story of half-human, half-Atlantean Arthur Curry and takes him on the journey of his lifetime—one that will not only force him to face who he really is, but to discover if he is worthy of who he was born to be… a king.

Directed by James Wan, Aquaman stars Jason Momoa as Arthur Curry, Amber Heard as Mera, Willem Dafoe as Vulko, Patrick Wilson as Orm / Ocean Master, Dolph Lundgren as Nereus, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II as Black Manta, Nicole Kidman as Atlanna, Ludi Lin as Captain Murk, and Temuera Morrison as Tom Curry.
