Legends of Tomorrow won’t be part of the upcoming Arrowverse crossover but producer Phil Klemmer revealed that he has no problem sitting out this year’s event to focus on the current season of the show.

The CW’s Arrowverse has managed to accomplish establishing its own universe similar to that of the MCU, though with a lower budget. Arrow, The Flash, Supergirl, and Legends of Tomorrow have all run for multiple seasons and have garnered fan bases of their own. Each year, fans of each series get to experience all of the Arrowverse heroes in an event that spans across multiple episodes across all of the shows, not dissimilar to some comic book crossover events.

This year, Legends of Tomorrow will be sitting out of the Arrowverse crossover event. If you’re a fan of the series disappointed to hear the news, don’t worry because it seems that producer Phil Klemmer is more than happy to sit out of the event this year. In fact, it gives he and the rest of the crew to focus more on telling their own tightly-knit story this season without having to accommodate for another massive event. While speaking with the Hollywood Reporter, Klemmer revealed that the series is currently on standby for next year’s crossover.

“I don’t know. People are already talking about crossover 2019. We’re on standby.”

Klemmer then went on to reveal why he’s fine sitting out of this year’s crossover.

“I don’t know how that will work. There’s already a loose shape for it even though this year’s crossover isn’t done by a long shot. I was happy to have sit this year out just because we only have 16 and our run of episodes was so tight and integrated. It’s always a blast but it is a departure. I’m glad we got to do a straight run this year.”

Check out the synopsis for the upcoming season of The CW’s Legends of Tomorrow:

After defeating Mallus by cuddling him to death with a giant stuffed animal named Beebo, the Legends were ready to ease off the gas. That was until Constantine arrived to inform them that, in solving one major problem, they have created another, much larger one. When the Legends let time crumble in order to release and defeat Mallus, the barrier between worlds softened. History is now infected with “Fugitives” – magical creatures from myths, fairy tales, and legends. Having been expelled throughout time by people like Constantine, these Fugitives are now returning to our world in droves and making a real mess of things. So when all hell breaks loose, who ya gonna call? That’s right, the Legends!

DC’s Legends of Tomorrow stars Caity Lotz, Dominic Purcell, Brandon Routh, Nick Zano, Maisie Richardson-Sellers, Tala Ashe, Matt Ryan, Jes Macallan and Courtney Ford.
