Ava DuVernay Reveals All-Widow Will Appear In ‘New Gods’ Script Update

Director Ava DuVernay revealed All-Widow will appear in Warner Bros. and DC’s New Gods.

Warner Bros. plans for the DC film franchise include a feature centered on the New Gods. Directing the project will be acclaimed filmmaker Ava DuVernay, who is also penning the screenplay with Eisner Award-winning writer Tom King.

Although the New Gods film has been in the works for some time, that had been no significant update on the project until Ava DuVernay took to Twitter to shed light on the status of the script. In response to a fan on Twitter, Ava DuVernay revealed that they are currently working on the fourth draft of a sequence that involved All-Widow. For those who are unaware, All-Widow is the Queen of the Bugs of New Genesis, a planet filled with forests, mountains, and rivers.

Directed by Ava DuVernay from a script she is co-writing with Tom King, Warner Bros. and DC’s New Gods film will be based on characters created and designed by Jack Kirby. Details on the film are currently unknown, though comic book incarnations of the New Gods have included characters such as Granny Goodness, Desaad, Godfrey, and the powerful villain Darkseid.

New Gods is one of the many projects currently being developed by Warner Bros. and DC. These projects include The Batman, The Flash standalone film, Green Lantern Corps, Black AdamSupergirlThe Suicide Squad, and Shazam 2.
