The number of views the first trailer Avatar: The Way of Water earned in its first 24 hours topped Disney’s recent Star Wars films.

All eyes are on James Cameron’s Avatar: The Way of Water, with the sequel to the highest-grossing film of all-time coming 13 years later. The first trailer for the long-awaited sequel debuted in front of Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness in theaters before hitting online this past Monday. It has now been revealed how many viewers the trailer pulled in on its first day, and that number topped all of Disney’s Star Wars films. Of course, Disney now owns both the Star Wars and Avatar franchises, so this is yet another win for the studio.

In its first 24 hours, the Avatar: The Way of Water trailer had 148.6 million views worldwide. This number tops other Disney films such as Black Widow (116.8 million), Incredibles 2 (113.1 million), and Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker (112.4 million). In terms of all-time trailer views in the first 24 hours, Spider-Man: No Way Home holds that record with 355.5 million.

Here is the synopsis for James Cameron’s Avatar: The Way of Water:

Set more than a decade after the events of the first film, “Avatar: The Way of Water” begins to tell the story of the Sully family (Jake, Neytiri, and their kids), the trouble that follows them, the lengths they go to keep each other safe, the battles they fight to stay alive, and the tragedies they endure.

Directed by James Cameron from a script he co-wrote with Josh Friedman, Avatar 2 stars Sam Worthington, Zoe Saldana,  Sigourney Weaver, Stephen Lang, Cliff Curtis, Joel David Moore, CCH Pounder, Edie Falco, Jemaine Clement, Giovanni Ribisi, and Kate Winslet.
