Does the MCU already have its Cyclops? Jack Champion finally speaks out on the rumor he’ll be jumping from Avatar to the X-Men in the upcoming reboot.
The rumor mill has been absolutely churning since it was confirmed that the MCU’s X-Men reboot was officially in development. Even with no production date in sight, every leaker and insider has rushed to claim everyone and their granny is joining the franchise, from Glen Powell as Cyclops to Cynthia Erivo as Storm.
Yet one rumor has been picking up some major steam in recent weeks. Reports online suggest that Avatar and Scream alum Jack Champion will finally make his MCU debut in the X-Men reboot as the intrepid leader himself: Cyclops. While it’s far from the only rumor out there about who will play Cyclops, it’s certainly the one with the most traction.
Is Jack Champion Playing Cyclops In The MCU?
As with almost any fancast rumor these days, someone brought the possibility up to Jack Champion himself. The team at ComicBookMovie.com recently sat down with the Avatar star to discuss his career, eventually turning to the possibility of him playing Cyclops in the MCU. Though while it seems he’s open to the possibility, he also seems to not have any connection to the current X-Men reboot.
“It’s, uh, definitely news to me,” Champion remarked. “I mean, I don’t…I hope it comes true, you know. I would definitely love to play that character, but…rumors.”
While some may say that any actor in his position would deny being cast as Cyclops in the MCU, Jack Champion doesn’t have the usual confidence of redirection that comes from someone trained to deny being attached to the reboot. It’s still possible that this rumor is true. However, it’s more likely than not Marvel is still on the hunt for the leader of the X-Men.
