Could Chris Evans return as Captain America? An Avengers star reveals their pitch for a Disney Plus series focusing on the return of the Infinity Stones.

One of the great untold stories of the MCU was Captain America’s journey to return the Infinity Stones to their rightful places in time at the end of Avengers: Endgame. Ever since fans saw Chris Evans hop back in time, there’s been an outcry for Marvel to greenlight a Disney Plus series following his adventures. And it seems like fans aren’t the only ones who want it.

During an appearance at Edmonton Expo, Red Skull actor Ross Marquand revealed that he’s pitched a Disney Plus series focused on Captain America’s journey to return the Infinity Stones after the events of Avengers: Endgame. While Marquand says he’s suggested it multiple times, it appears neither Marvel Studios nor Chris Evans himself are interested in actually doing the series for Disney Plus.

How An Infinity Stones Series Can Still Happen

While Chris Evans isn’t likely to return just for a Disney Plus series following his characters offscreen actions in Avengers: Endgame, that doesn’t mean there’s no hope for a series focusing on Captain America’s quest to return the Infinity Stones. Ross Marquand is already a voice actor that replaced Hugo Weaving as Red Skull. It wouldn’t be entirely out of question for Marvel to simply replace Chris Evans as the voice of America’s hero for an animated series.

In fact, Marvel has already done it. Josh Keaton has voiced Captain America in What If…? after Chris Evans’ departure from the role in Avengers: Endgame. And with the studio continuing to beef up their animated offerings on Disney Plus, it would make sense to produce one of their most highly requested series for the service. At the very least, it’d keep Ross Marquand from mentioning it every time he makes his return to the sound booth!

Avengers: Doomsday is set to hit theaters in May 2026. Stay tuned for the latest news regarding the future of the Marvel Cinematic Universe and make sure to subscribe to our YouTube channel for more content!
