Disneyland’s Avengers Campus will feature Black Widow villain Taskmaster as the main foe of the park.

Disneyland will soon give fans a chance to experience what it must be like to live among Marvel’s hero’s when Avengers Campus opens this summer. In addition to borrowing from the decades-long history of Marvel Comics, Avengers Campus will also incorporate characters and elements from the MCU films, including the upcoming Black Widow.

Due to be released in May, Marvel Studios’ Black Widow will find the titular heroine facing off against the villainous Taskmaster, a mercenary who can replicate the fight moves of anyone he observes. During a media preview of Avengers Campus, Disney announced Taskmaster would be the primary foe of an action-packed live show featured at the park, with Vice President, Franchise Creative & Marketing, Marvel Studios Dave Bushore making the following statement:

“Taskmaster’s appeared in so many different comic stories with the Avengers in different times and places, and he’s a great foe for the Avengers. And for us, bringing that character to the big screen this summer in Black Widow, it was a great opportunity for us to say, ‘Well, hey. It’s a living, breathing place. Let’s have him there on opening day.'”

During a conversation with ComicBook.com, Bushore added, “He’s great. He’s an iconic villain in and of himself from the fans’ perspective. He’s someone that’s gone against the Avengers and he can take on any one of them, which is awesome.”

Here is the official synopsis for Marvel Studios’ Black Widow:

In Marvel Studios’ action-packed spy thriller “Black Widow,” Natasha Romanoff aka Black Widow confronts the darker parts of her ledger when a dangerous conspiracy with ties to her past arises. Pursued by a force that will stop at nothing to bring her down, Natasha must deal with her history as a spy and the broken relationships left in her wake long before she became an Avenger.

Directed by Cate Shortland from a script written by Eric Pearson based on a story by Jac Schaeffer and Ned Benson, Marvel Studios’ Black Widow stars Scarlett Johansson, David Harbour, Florence Pugh, O-T Fagbenle, Ray Winstone, Olivier Richters, and Rachel Weisz.

Black Widow will be released in theaters on May 1, 2020.
