Avengers: Endgame star Chris Pratt weighed in on Marvel Studios’ plan to reboot Blade with Mahershala Ali.

In closing moments of Marvel Studios’ Hall H presentation at San Diego Comic-Con, Kevin Feige invited Mahershala Ali on stage to announce he will play Blade in a film reboot as part of the company’s phase 5 plans. News of Mahershala Ali landing the role of Blade surprised and excited many, including Avengers: Endgame star Chris Pratt, who told Variety that he is excited to see the Academy Award-winning actor’s take on the Daywalker as he is a huge fan of the Wesley Snipes film:

“Oh my God, I cannot wait to see ‘Blade.’ That to me is going to be so sick. I’m a huge fan of the original [starring Wesley Snipes as the vampire vigilante]. Mahershala Ali as ‘Blade,’ when I heard that I was like ‘Oh my God, I’ve got to see that.'”

Full details on Mahershala Ali’s Blade are currently unknown, though Kevin Feige confirmed the reboot will be part of Marvel Studios’ Phase 5. The project is said to have come about after Mahershala Ali called Marvel expressing his interest in Blade following his Academy Award win for his performance in Green Book.

Chris Pratt will reprise his role as Star-Lord in Marvel Studios’ Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, which is expected to begin production after James Gunn completes directorial duties on The Suicide Squad for Warner Bros. and DC. In the meantime, audiences can see Chris Pratt as Star-Lord when Avengers: Endgame hits home media formats in the coming weeks.
