Is Avengers: Doomsday hiding a major twist in plain sight? An official costume display for the film may reveal a radical change to Doctor Doom.
Sometimes, there’s a particular report that the rumor mill likes to latch its teeth onto — Knull being the villain of Spider-Man: Brand New Day, Jessica Jones in Daredevil: Born Again season 1, and even Hawkeye season 2 just being in the works. Most recently, this fixation is related to Avengers: Doomsday, with reports suggesting that one major twist of the film will be that Doctor Doom had a wife and child who were killed by the actions of Steve Rogers.
To many, this was all the confirmation they needed that the Doctor Doom seen in Avengers: Doomsday would just be another Tony Stark variant with a small twist. His wife would likely be played by Gwyneth Paltrow, and there may be an emotional scene with Morgan Stark toward the film’s climax. The only thing fans couldn’t figure out was why the rumor kept specifying “son” when Tony has never had one in the comics or movies.

However, one theory posits that Doctor Doom’s family may be entirely different what fans are expecting. The Russo Brothers have the villain’s costume on display in their AGBO office, along with the costumes of Sue Storm and Franklin Richards. Some have begun to speculate that, if this rumor is true, they may end up being his lost family in Avengers: Doomsday.

This rumor would likely be a double-edged sword. On one hand, it would give a short and sweet reason as to why Doctor Doom hates Reed Richards in Avengers: Doomsday. On the other hand, this is a swift kick in the nards to fans of Valeria Richards, who would have been perfect for this multiversal twist. Though given all the evidence is tied up in a single costume display, the chances it’s true are certainly slimmer than most.
