Is Reed Richards stretched too thin?

Is Reed Richards key to Avengers: Doomsday? The latest report for the upcoming project reveals exactly how large of a role Pedro Pascal will play in the film.

When it was first announced that Doctor Doom would be the Multiverse Saga’s main villain in Avengers: Doomsday and Secret Wars, fans were left questioning how big of a role Reed Richards would have in the film. Despite neither character having been seen in the MCU during the announcement, the characters’ rivalry is so infamous it was at the top of everyone’s minds. Plus, they got Pedro Pascal to play Mister Fantastic! Surely he’ll have a big role.

These worries were compounded following the release of The Fantastic Four: First Steps. Fans fell absolutely head over heels for Pedro Pascal’s performance as Reed Richards, making them hope he’ll have a large role in Avengers: Doomsday even more than before. The film’s post-credits scene featuring Doctor Doom brought those hopes to a fever pitch.

Reed Richards’ Role In Avengers: Doomsday

However, just like all fevers, the temperature needs to be brought down eventually. The latest report from Variety reveals that Pedro Pascal’s Reed Richards will have an important role in Avengers: Doomsday. Though, much to the dismay of fans, his character won’t be the center piece of the film. Rather, much like prior films helmed by the Russo Brothers, the lead will be the film’s main villain: Doctor Doom.

Even taking the Doctor Doom report in stride, it’s shocking that the character would be the leading figure in Avengers: Doomsday without Reed Richards to face-off against. While it’s possible that Pedro Pascal could be given a larger role in Secret Wars, especially given the positive reception of The Fantastic Four: First Steps, it sadly seems the hero may be relegated to the sidelines this time around.

Avengers: Doomsday is set to hit theaters in December 2026. Stay tuned for the latest news regarding the future of the Marvel Cinematic Universe and make sure to subscribe to our YouTube channel for more content!
