Robert Downey Jr. is going to be rolling in that Marvel money! A new report has revealed a shocking payday for the star’s return as Doctor Doom in Avengers: Doomsday.
The only news on anyone’s mind this past weekend was the reveal that Robert Downey Jr. would be making his return to the Marvel universe one final time as Doctor Doom in Avengers: Doomsday. This came along with the Russo Brothers coming back to helm the next two Avengers films. Which left everyone asking one question: How much did they have to get paid for all this!?
The answer? A lot. A new report by Variety revealed that the Russo Brothers alone will be paid an astonishing $80 million to helm both films, with boosts to their payday kicking in if the film reaches $750 million and $1 billion at the box office. Though given Robert Downey Jr.’s return as Doctor Doom, that number shouldn’t be an issue to hit for Avengers: Doomsday.
Robert Downey Jr. Hits The Goldmine With ‘Avengers: Doomsday’
Robert Downey Jr.’s payday makes the Russo Brothers compensation look like chump change. While Variety only reports that he’ll be paid “significantly more”, insider Jeff Sneider revealed that star will be making $50 million for both Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars. This doesn’t include his box office bonuses, which could make his role as Doctor Doom one of the most profitable Marvel contracts of all time.
However, a massive payday isn’t the only thing Marvel is giving Robert Downey Jr. for his return in Avengers: Doomsday. The actor has reportedly secured a bunch of perks for his role as Doctor Doom, including but not limited to a private jet, personal security detail, and what’s described as a “trailer encampment” instead of a usual trailer!
Avengers: Doomsday is set to hit theaters in May 2026. Stay tuned for the latest news regarding the future of the Marvel Cinematic Universe and make sure to subscribe to our YouTube channel for more content!
