Is the Time Variance Authority gone for good? A new report suggests that the organization may come to an unsightly end during the course of Marvel’s Avengers: Doomsday later this year.
The TVA has been one of the few mainstays throughout the MCU’s Multiverse Saga, serving as the guardians of the Sacred Timeline (and, later on, the entire multiverse). However, with the multiverse likely coming to an end with Secret Wars, Marvel fans have been wondering what the future will hold for the organization, given that controlling timelines was their primary mission.
The answer? Death. A rumor by Hollywood insider MyTimeToShineHello seems to reveal that the TVA will be completely destroyed during the events of Avengers: Doomsday. Specifically, the scooper suggests that Doctor Doom will kill everyone at the organization, which would include Tom Hiddleston’s Loki in an unnerving parallel to his death in Avengers: Infinity War.
The End Of The TVA
It’s certainly understandable that Marvel would want to get rid of the TVA at some point in either Avengers: Doomsday or Secret Wars. It’s a great way to pump up the stakes while clearing the board for future projects. Though if this rumor is true, fans of the Loki series may be left heartbroken at the deaths of fan-favorites like Mobius and Sylvie.
Then again, death is never truly death when it comes to Marvel projects. It’s possible that, while the TVA itself is destroyed in Avengers: Doomsday, some key characters manage to live on through some form or fashion in Secret Wars. Given Loki’s penchant for trickery, it wouldn’t be shocking for the sorcerer to show up for one final fight against a big bad.
Avengers: Doomsday is set to hit theaters in December 2026. Stay tuned for the latest news regarding the future of the Marvel Cinematic Universe!
