While not officially confirmed, it’s all but guaranteed that Hayley Atwell will make her return as Peggy Carter in Avengers: Doomsday. However, that begs the question: which version? Fans have seen no less than three versions of the character in the MCU between Captain Carter, the version from Agent Carter, and the original film version of the character.
The answer? Maybe all of the above! A rumor from scooper MyTimeToShineHello suggests that Hayley Atwell will play multiple variants of Peggy Carter when she makes her return in Avengers: Doomsday. This makes sense, especially given how integral Captain Carter has been to the larger story of the Multiverse Saga.
The Many Variants Of Peggy Carter
The obvious candidates for which variants of Peggy Carter will appear in Avengers: Doomsday are listed above. Out of all of them, it’s more likely than not that the two predominant variants that this rumor is hinting at are Captain Carter and the MCU’s mainline Peggy Carter. However, that doesn’t mean they’re the ONLY ones who will appear.
Given that Steve Rogers (and many of the audience members) may still struggle with the concept of the Multiverse, it wouldn’t be shocking for Avengers: Doomsday to reintroduce the concept with a villainous Peggy Carter who pretends to be the normal one before attacking Steve. This could also hint at a twist with Doctor Doom, given he’s wearing the face of a familiar friend.
