Is Robert Downey Jr. causing some major delays for Avengers: Doomsday? The latest rumor reveals that the film has had some rather extensive reshoots thanks to the actor.
The rumor mill has been hot in recent days when it comes to drama on the Avengers: Doomsday set. The entire internet has run wild with their thoughts about who is right and who is wrong in the feud between Robert Downey Jr. and Ryan Reynolds. This in spite of the fact that neither actor was named in the specific rumor being cited.
However, this doesn’t mean that Robert Downey Jr. isn’t completely blameless for some of the things happening on the set of Avengers: Doomsday. The latest rumor from John Rocha on The Hot Mic reveals that the actor was actually responsible for a decent amount of reshoots. A big reason for this is that he originally didn’t want to wear Doctor Doom’s costume, with the Oscar winner simply voicing the character over a stunt double. However, after deciding that wouldn’t work, the team had to reshoot all of his scenes with Downey in the suit.

An uncomfortable suit also isn’t the only reason for reshoots. Robert Downey Jr. seemingly didn’t want to wear Doctor Doom’s mask while filming Avengers: Doomsday, with the plan originally being for the mask to be added in post-production. However, he soon relented on that too when the decision was made to do the reshoots.
Robert Downey Jr. also likely has a much bigger hand in the story of Avengers: Doomsday than some people realize. The rumor also claims that the actor directed and even rewrote some of the scenes involving Doctor Doom. While it’s not clear how pivotal those scenes are, it’s likely that there will be some changes between Doom on the page versus on the screen.
