Doctor Doom isn’t working alone in Avengers: Doomsday! A rumor suggests that the villain may be working with a sidekick in the upcoming film.
To many, Doctor Doom is the archetypical loner villain. Nobody stands equal to Doom, so there’s no reason that the villain will stand with anyone but Doombots in Avengers: Doomsday. Yet, historically, that hasn’t exactly been true. Doctor Doom is no stranger to making allies, with perhaps the most well-known being his adopted son Kristoff Vernard.
And it seems this pattern will be continuing going into Avengers: Doomsday. A report from John Rocha on The Hot Mic reveals that Doctor Doom will have a sidekick in the project. The scooper goes on to describe the villain’s ally, interestingly noting that they’ll be a female and will don Doctor Doom’s iconic metal mask.
“Doom has a female sidekick [who] also has a mask. This person thinks it is a female Doom. You’ll get a male and female Doom team.”
Who Is Doctor Doom’s Sidekick?
When someone says “female Doctor Doom,” a massive flashing light should be blinking in any comic fan’s mind. The only character to even remotely resemble that concept is Valeria von Doom, a version of Valeria Richards who (due to time travel chicanery) was raised by a heroic version of Doctor Doom. Though, given the character would be a child, it’s not the most likely outcome for Avengers: Doomsday.
The most likely, and sadly most BORING, outcome is that Avengers: Doomsday will see multiple variants of Doctor Doom fighting the Avengers and other Marvel heroes. Among these variants will be a female one, likely played by someone like Scarlett Johansson. While Doctor Doom working with his variants may seem a bit blasphemous, it would at least fit the theme of the Multiverse Saga.
Avengers: Doomsday is set to hit theaters in December 2026. Stay tuned for the latest news regarding the future of the Marvel Cinematic Universe!
