Is Doctor Strange the true villain of Avengers: Doomsday? The latest rumor suggests that Benedict Cumberbatch’s hero may be in league with Doctor Doom.
Details about Avengers: Doomsday have been slowly trickling out as production on the film carries on. However, for as much as fans have discovered about the project, there has been one notable absence from the rumor mill. That, of course, being what role Benedict Cumberbatch will play as Doctor Strange.
The most believed rumor for the plot of Avengers: Doomsday revolves around multiple teams of Marvel heroes setting out to resolve conflicts with Doctor Doom or the incursions. There’s an X-Men team, a Loki team, and multiple Avengers teams. However, none of the teams seem to be a good fit for Benedict Cumberbatch to appear as Doctor Strange.
Is Doctor Strange In Avengers: Doomsday?
It may have finally been revealed why Doctor Strange has been absent from every conversation being had about the heroes’ side in the upcoming film. According to Jeff Sneider on The Hot Mic, Benedict Cumberbatch will be turning full heel in Avengers: Doomsday, working with Robert Downey Jr.’s Doctor Doom throughout the events of the movie.
While some fans may be shocked, this shouldn’t come as a surprise to anyone keeping up with Doctor Strange’s story throughout the last phase of the MCU. Benedict Cumberbatch’s first appearance as the character seemingly opened the doorway to incursions, and his second revolved around dealing with the fallout from them. It would only make sense that, in Avengers: Doomsday, he would finally be taking up arms to stop them.
