The Masters of Evil may finally be headed to the MCU! An Avengers: Doomsday rumor suggests the team may serve as the core villains for the film.
Ever since it was announced that Robert Downey Jr. would be taking on the role of Doctor Doom in Avengers: Doomsday, fans have been waiting for who else would be joining the villains team for the project. While Doctor Doom is a powerhouse, he’s nowhere near at the level of facing off against dozens of the MCU’s strongest heroes. Even Thanos had a team in the form of the Black Order, so it would only make sense that Doom got one too.
The latest rumor from scooper MyTimeToShineHello suggests that the MCU’s mightiest heroes will be facing off against evil versions of themselves in Avengers: Doomsday. While the account didn’t explicitly call the group the Masters of Evil, it is the name most commonly associated with the concept in prior rumors that have floated around. Though it is entirely possible that the film calls them the Dark Avengers or some other moniker.
Who Are The Masters Of Evil In Avengers: Doomsday?
The Masters of Evil are some of the earliest Avengers villains from the comics. While their rank and motivation have varied greatly throughout the years, their goal usually boils down to defeating the Avengers by any means necessary. This is likely a characterization that would carry over to the MCU in Avengers: Doomsday, especially if its members are assembled from corrupted worlds throughout the multiverse.
As for who will be making up the Masters of Evil if they do appear in Avengers: Doomsday, the only confirmed member is Robert Downey Jr. as Doctor Doom. However, given Chris Evans is set to make his grand return to the MCU in the film, it wouldn’t be shocking to see him don the mantle of Captain Hydra to square-off against Anthony Mackie’s Captain America.
Avengers: Doomsday is set to hit theaters in May 2026. Stay tuned for the latest news regarding the future of the Marvel Cinematic Universe and make sure to subscribe to our YouTube channel for more content!
