Have fans already met Doctor Doom? A theory has convinced fans that the villain of Avengers: Doomsday may have already appeared in a trailer.
With the fourth teaser trailer for Avengers: Doomsday officially online, fans have begun to go over all of the footage with a fine tooth comb. This theory is largely due to a recent Instagram post where the Russo Brothers urged fans to “pay attention” to the footage as clues to a bigger puzzle, leading many to speculate that some secrets about Doctor Doom were hiding in the footage.
This drew fans to the blocking used in the trailer featuring the Fantastic Four and the Wakandans. The theory goes that, since there is so much empty space to the right of The Thing when he meets M’Baku, that’s actually proof that Doctor Doom was edited from the shot, and that he is arriving with Marvel’s First Family into Wakanda.
Doctor Doom’s Role In Avengers: Doomsday
This theory actually piggybacks off another theory that’s been circulating around the rumor mill for the past few weeks. Namely, that Doctor Doom won’t be the villain of Avengers: Doomsday. Rather, the events of the third trailer featuring the X-Men will push the team into a “kill or be killed” mindset that places them into the antagonist role.
Of course, both this theory and the other end with Doctor Doom ultimately betraying the heroes in Avengers: Doomsday, leading to him becoming some variation of God Doom in Secret Wars. While interesting, it could be disappointing to some fans if Doctor Doom doesn’t end up being a TRUE villain in the film, especially given how much each trailer has built up the stakes.
Avengers: Doomsday is set to hit theaters in December 2026. Stay tuned for the latest news regarding the future of the Marvel Cinematic Universe!
