Thor isn’t alone in Avengers: Doomsday! One key character in his past is seemingly set to return thanks to the trailer that was leaked online.
Marvel is not having a good week. The first trailer for Avengers: Doomsday was unceremoniously leaked, spoiling the return of Steve Rogers. Not long after, the trailer for Spider-Man: Brand New Day ALSO leaked, revealing key plot points for the film. And now the studio is going for a triple, with the audio for Thor’s Avengers: Doomsday trailer finding its way onto the net.
Unlike the other two, this trailer doesn’t reveal a paradigm shaking revelation or the truth about a character in the film. It is, relative to what fans have experienced with Avengers: Doomsday, a rather tame trailer. However, it did tease that Thor is carrying over some of the supporting cast from his last solo outing, suggesting that his “love” may end up making a return.
“Of all the crowns, the kingdoms, the pride, I ask for none. Father, hear your son. I am not worthy of life, but still I beg you to let the thread lengthen. Not for thunder, not for war… let me remain long enough to see my love once more.”
Who Is Thor’s Love?
For those of you who haven’t watched every MCU project leading up to Avengers: Doomsday, love doesn’t actually mean a romantic relationship in this context. Rather, Thor’s words in this trailer are teasing the return of the character Love, his adoptive daughter that he took in during the events of Thor: Love and Thunder.
Interestingly, it seems as though Thor is already on a mission in this trailer. This could mean that the footage is taken from a point already deep into the plot of Avengers: Doomsday, having left Love behind to help defend the multiverse from Doctor Doom. So it’s likely, if not at least possible, the fans will see the character return in the early minutes of the film.
