‘Avengers: Endgame’ Hawkeye Scene Was Originally In ‘Infinity War’

The Russo Brothers have revealed that Hawkeye’s opening scene in Avengers: Endgame was originally meant for the ending of Avengers: Infinity War.

Avengers: Infinity War ended on perhaps what was the most soul-crushing note in the entire Marvel Cinematic Universe. Despite last-minute acts of heroism from Scarlett Witch and Thor, Thanos ultimately succeeded in his goal of wiping out half the universes. Endgame‘s first scene, however, opted to top this moment by bringing it down to Earth and closer to home. Specifically Hawkeye’s home.

In the first scene of Avengers: Endgame, we were treated to the horrific image of Hawkeye’s family literally disappearing while his back is turned with Jeremey Renner’s character being confused, scared, and desperately searching for them. This would later prompt Hawkeye’s descend into a more ruthless form vigilantism that we saw later on in the film. But, according to the film’s directors, this scene was originally supposed to be in Infinity War.

Earlier today The Russo Brothers took part in a watch party for Avengers: Endgame, where they revealed new things about the film through Comic Book.com’s official Twitter, account alongside writers Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely. One of the first things that they shared was that this scene was meant to be the end of Infinity War and not at the start of Endgame:

What do you all make of this change? Was this Hawkeye scene more potent at the start of Endgame? Let us know what you think in the comments below!
