‘Avengers: Endgame’ Directors On Why James D’Arcy Appeared As Edwin Jarvis

Avengers Endgame James D'Arcy Edwin Jarvis

Avengers: Endgame directors Anthony and Joe Russo commented on the decision to have James D’Arcy reprise his role as Edwin Jarvis from Agent Carter.

Marvel’s Agent Carter introduced fans to James D’Arcy as Edwin Jarvis, the butler and trusted friend of Howard Stark whom Tony Stark later paid tribute to by naming his A.I. system J.A.R.V.I.S. However, fans had not seen James D’Arcy in the role of Edwin Jarvis since ABC canceled Agent Carter after the second season in 2016.

Three years later, fans were thrilled when James D’Arcy made an unexpected cameo appearance as Edwin Jarvis in Avengers: Endgame after Tony Stark’s conversation with his father in the past. Most fans were surprised by James D’Arcy’s Avengers: Endgame cameo considering the MCU’s television characters rarely crossover into the films and the Russo Brothers explained that the decision to include Edwin Jarvis came about because of their love for the actor as well as their own history with Agent Carter.

Because we love James.

Also, because Markus and Mcfeely were instrumental in engineering that show, and because I directed one of the episodes. It seemed appropriate.
