Avengers: Endgame directors Anthony and Joe Russo have revealed which scene in the Marvel Studios epic turned out to be the most costly.

Marvel Studios’ Avengers: Endgame assembled nearly every hero in the Marvel Cinematic Universe for a spectacular showdown against Thanos and his forces that was filled with stunning visuals. While it may seem as though the final battle would’ve had the most costly shot of Avengers: Endgame, co-director Joe Russo revealed the funeral for Tony Stark, in which most of the principal heroes gathered to pay their respects to the fallen hero, may actually hold that distinction.

During a conversation with Kevin Smith for IMDB, Joe Russo explained that the combined salary of every Avengers: Endgame cast member featured in the funeral scene’s famous tracking shot likely resulted in it being the most expensive of the entire film:

“We used to joke, and I don’t know if it’s joking, it’s probably the most expensive shot in movie history. That’s a lot of salary on the screen there. At the very least it’s the most expensive day of extras in movie history, outside of Cleopatra.”
