With awards season upon us, Disney is already launching a For Your Consideration Oscars campaign for Avengers: Endgame.
On the official website for Walt Disney Studios’ For Your Consideration Oscars campaign, Avengers: Endgame is listed among four other films from Disney’s 2019 catalogue that will be submitted for awards contention with their eyes set on some Oscar nominations.
The website currently lists Avengers: Endgame, Aladdin, Toy Story 4, The Lion King and the upcoming Frozen II as their official entries for awards consideration in numerous categories. While the studio has yet to release which categories they’re campaigning for in regards to Avengers: Endgame, one could expect a push for a Best Picture nomination as well as other categories whether it is through some of the other behind-the-scenes elements such as Best Visual Effects.
Given that Avengers: Endgame has become the highest-grossing film of all-time at the worldwide box office, a Best Picture nomination would be fitting given that previous record holders such as James Cameron’s Titanic and Avatar were both nominated for Best Picture.
Disney is not the only studio campaigning for a comic book movie at this upcoming Oscars ceremony. Warner Bros. is going full-steam ahead in campaigning for Todd Phillips’ Joker which stars Joaquin Phoenix as the Clown Prince of Crime in Gotham. The film has received mostly positive reviews, with many expecting Phoenix to receive a Best Actor nomination.
How do you think Avengers: Endgame will fare in the upcoming Oscars ceremony? Will it receive a Best Picture nomination like Black Panther did?
